Summer Goals: Update 4

As I explained in this post I am working on completing some summer goals. This is the last update of this month! Overall I think that it has been a pretty successful first month of summer. Of course I haven’t completed all of my goals every week, but I think I am making good progress.

1. Read at Least One Book A Month

I finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest! I think that was probably 300-400 pages this week. Its hard not to speed up reading when you get to the end of a good book.

I am currently looking for a new book to read next. I have been reading tons of samples on iBooks (best feature ever!).

2. Eat Real Lunches

This week’s lunch has been honey wheat bagels with honey nut cream cheese – yum!

3. Call my Mom at least Once a Week

I actually called twice! And I saw my whole family earlier in the week which was fun!

4. Walk or Do Pilates Three Times a Week

I walked on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. I also did pilates today! Go me!

5. Take Outfit Photos Once a Week

Okay I haven’t done this… I also still haven’t managed to post those outfit pictures I took like a month ago.

6. Try Two New Recipes a Month

I definitely exceeded this goal this month! I even made two new dishes this week.

I made a zucchini pasta dish with whole wheat pasta and seasoned with crushed red pepper, garlic sea salt, basil and parmesan. It was awesome!

I also made a zucchini and sweet potato stir fry seasoned with grounded mustard, garlic sea salt and paprika. It was quite yummy!

Next week maybe I will actually look up a recipe and then follow it – haha.

7. Bake Twice a Month

I really didn’t succeed at this at all. Its kind of hard to convince myself to turn on the oven lately even for the sake of cookies!

8. Make a lot of Wedding Crafts

I really need step up the wedding craft making. I have been trying to organize gathering supplies. June is gonna have to be quite the crafty month!

9. Find Something I Love to Do

Lately I have been loving walking thats pretty much all I have so far.

10. Relax More and Smile More

Overall I think I have been doing pretty well at this throughout the month. Lets hope I can continue doing that.

Mini Goal

Last week my mini goal was to pick out an outside couch for my porch. I did this and I am super excited to get it and spend lots of time reading and drinking tea outside!

Next Week Mini Goal

  • Finish unpacking!

Overall a pretty great week. Here’s to an even better weekend (which will include my first Bridal Shower!).

Another Friday Update!

As I explained in this post I am working on completing some summer goals. On to this weeks update:

1. Read at Least One Book A Month

  • I read 115 pages in The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest (I seem to have a trend going of reading more and more pages each week – haha).

2. Eat Real Lunches

  • I did pretty well this week with this. Lots of hummus and pretzels with aside of strawberries – yum!

3. Call my Mom at least Once a Week

  • Done! Always fun to catch up with my Mom.

4. Walk or Do Pilates Three Times a Week

  • I went on one walk. It was kinda rainy and gross all week. Hopefully next week I can go on more walks!

5. Take Outfit Photos Once a Week

  • Nope

6. Try Two New Recipes a Month

  • Not this week.

7. Bake Twice a Month

  • Not yet but the month’s not over yet!

8. Make a lot of Wedding Crafts

  • No but I picked wedding shoes after MUCH deliberation. My dress I picked in one hour, but everything else is proving a bit more difficult.

9. Find Something I Love to Do

  • I have mostly been focusing on unpacking this week. I have been enjoying relaxing still which is always a fun thing to do.

10. Relax More and Smile More

  • I think I have been doing pretty good this week. Maybe I am finally getting a hang of relaxing and having fun thing.

Mini Goal

Last weeks goal was take more pictures. I did this a little bit. I shared some random pictures I took of day to day life in this post and I plan on sharing some more this weekend or next week.

Next Week Mini Goal

  • Pick out a little couch for my porch – my porch!

Overall this week has been pretty good and I am looking forward to an awesome long weekend. I plan to have a weekend full of relaxing and slow unpacking. Maybe even some exploring in my town!

Update Time!

As I explained in this post I am working on completing some summer goals. Here is this weeks update:

1. Read at Least One Book A Month

  • I read 82 pages in The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest

2. Eat Real Lunches

  • I didn’t do so well with eating lunch this week mostly because I am running low on food. On Tuesday I had a peanut butter sandwich and other than that I had snacks like apples and luna bars and such. There is always next week.

3. Call my Mom at least Once a Week

  • No

4. Walk or Do Pilates Three Times a Week

  • I did some pilates this week.

5. Take Outfit Photos Once a Week

  • Nope

6. Try Two New Recipes a Month

  • Not this week.

7. Bake Twice a Month

  • Not yet but the month’s not over yet!

8. Make a lot of Wedding Crafts

  • No but we sent out our save the dates & I picked bridesmaids dresses! I think those are some pretty fun milestones regardless.

9. Find Something I Love to Do

  • I have been focusing on enjoying relaxing and being okay with not having a definitive plan for the first time in my life.

10. Relax More and Smile More

  • See above

Mini Goal

Last weeks goal wastry two new hairstyles. I succeeded in this!

Friday Update

As I explained in this post I am working on completing some summer goals. Here is my first update post on my progress towards those goals! Also I decided to do the posts on Fridays because we all know that is the real end of the week!

Without further ado, here is how I did this week:

1. Read at Least One Book A Month

  • I read about 50 pages in The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest

2. Eat Real Lunches

  • Wednesday – Had leftover pasta from night before as a cold pasta salad – win!
  • Thursday – Had a Starbucks frappuccino so not so much a lunch
  • Friday – Apple & peanut butter – well better than Thursday right?

3. Call my Mom at least Once a Week

  • Did so on Thursday!

4. Walk or Do Pilates Three Times a Week

  • Kind of – walked to do an errand on Thursday

5. Take Outfit Photos Once a Week

  • Took some on Sunday May 6th and one day I will post them.

6. Try Two New Recipes a Month

  • I don’t know if you can really call it a recipe because I kind just threw some things together, but it was pretty darn good. In case you were curious: pasta + parmesan + olive oil + onions + red peppers + garlic + basil

7. Bake Twice a Month

  • Yeah didn’t do that yet…

8. Make a lot of Wedding Crafts

  • No real crafts but working on put together Save the Dates!

9. Find Something I Love to Do

  • I have been writing in an ideas journal – hopefully that will help.

10. Relax More and Smile More

  • I decided to not look at my reminders app for a 3 days (which may seem silly but seriously I check that thing like every 5 minutes)
  • I created a new ritual of tea and google reader every morning (so many lovely blogs to read)
  • I painted my nails on Wednesday (something I rarely do). I would also like to note that I answered the door & signed for a package in the middle of painting my nails without messing up a single one – I call that skills – haha.

P.S. I also decided I am gonna make a mini-goal every week to keep this interesting. So…

Mini Goal:

  • Try 2 new hair styles

All in all I think this was a pretty successful first week of summer and first week of goal completion (or rather progress).

Thoughts on the Summer

Last summer I made some goals and lets be honest I didn’t follow through on most of them, but this summer I am gonna try to make and follow through on some goals.

I don’t have a job lined up after graduation and while I am sure I will be quite busy with wedding planning – all and all I am doing absolutely nothing this summer. If anyone has ever experienced the phenomena of having nothing to do than you know that it can get quite boring and monotonous. After a few days of doing nothing the glamour of relaxation can wear off a little bit (or a lot).

I personally start losing motivation to much besides watch TV and sit around complaining about how bored I am. This summer my number one goal is to not be bored and to learn how to be fulfilled and happy without a job or school.

I have a list of simple things I would like to accomplish this summer, and if I remember to work towards them everyday than I should pretty much always have something to do.

Summer of 2012 Goals:

1. Read at Least One Book A Month

2. Eat Real Lunches (I have never been a person who has trouble eating breakfast or cooking myself dinner, but lunch I struggle with).

3. Call my Mom at least Once a Week

4. Walk or Do Pilates Three Times a Week

5. Take Outfit Photos Once a Week

6. Try Two New Recipes a Month

7. Bake Twice a Month

8. Make a lot of Wedding Crafts

9. Find Something I Love to Do

10. Relax More and Smile More

To assure that I don’t fall back into my old habits of being lazy and bored I am going to create a little weekly feature here on this blog. Every week (I haven’t decided what day yet) I will make a little post tracking my progress towards my various goals and hopefully this will help me continuously work towards them.
